Save photos from a chat to the Album

Photos in chats expire after 7 days. To keep them, save them to the Album.

Press and hold a photo, video, or voice message in a chat.

Choose "Save to Album".

Tap the "Album" button at the top to see the photo you just saved.

Once saved to the Album, it's kept permanently and counts toward the storage of the person who saved it.
